Eligibility
​To Apply to MCYC you:
​
  • Must be a high school student or home school equivalent

​

  • Must live in Monroe County

​

  • Must be committed to attending two meetings on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays monthly and set annual events including Global Youth Service Day

Member Expectations
MCYC Members are expected to commit to the following:​
​​
  1. Active Participation: attend and actively engage in all meetings, events, and initiatives assigned at the beginning of each term​​​

  2. Professional Conduct: Represent MCYC in a respectful, responsible, and professional manner at all times

  3. Collaboration & Teamwork: Work cooperatively with fellow MCYC members and community partners, respect diverse perspectives, and contribute to a positive environment

  4. Confidentiality & Integrity: Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive discussions and decisions

  5. Community Engagement: Support and promote MCYC programs, projects, and initiatives within your school and community

  6. Compliance & Responsibility: Follow all organizational policies, guidelines, safety protocols, and legal requirements associated with the MCYC activities

NEW MEMBER PROCESS

Letter of Recommendation

Each applicant will first need to request a letter of recommendation by downloading the form, using the button below. 

 

The recommender should send the letter directly to the member so they can upload it during the application.

Application Closes

The MCYC application closes on August 29th at 11:59 pm. Each member must have a completed an application and uploaded their letter of recommendation by this point.

Orientation

Each member will take part in orientation at the beginning of the MCYC cycle. 

​

For 2025, MCYC orientation is on September 6th.

Intake

If an applicant is accepted, the Youth Prevention Specialist will contact the applicant and their families to complete an intake either over phone or in person at YSB. During this intake, the family will sign documentation for the new member and go over the expectations of being a part of MCYC.

Monthly Meetings

After orientation, members will be required to attend monthly meetings on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month until June.

​

These meetings will include Full Council meetings (2nd Wednesdays) and subcommittee meetings (4th Wednesdays).
