MLK National Day of Service, January 18th, 2021
Switchyard Park (Rogers Street Entrance - 1601 S. Rogers St. - parking available in lot)
LET'S CLEAN IT UP!
The Monroe County Youth Council invites teens, along with community members of all ages, to participate in a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Cleanup from 1:00-3:00 pm on Monday, January 18 in Switchyard Park.
Switchyard Park, Bloomington's newest municipal park, is equipped with a stage, a playground, a dog park, and walking trails. As a part of the Monroe County Youth Council's effort to promote environmental health and justice for all community members through education and hands-on service, MCYC members are hosting a series of events in 2021 to bring attention and action to these issues.
Participants will work in socially distanced groups and family pods to clean the park and creek in a safe and impactful way.
All ages are welcome, and teens are especially encouraged to attend.
Masks will be required for all participants for the entirety of the event in order to promote public health and safety.
All registered attendees will receive a FREE reusable mask to use in the future!
An orientation to the project and the greater MCYC Environmental Justice Initiative will kick off the event! Litter pick-up supplies, including gloves and bags, will be provided for all participants. Bring your own gloves if you prefer.
We will be outside for the entirety of the project, please dress for mud, weather, and light to moderate physical activity.
