The Warehouse at Switchyard Park
PROJECT FULL - PAINT A MURAL
The Warehouse back wall is in need of a new look to get ready for the debut of the Switchyard Park later in 2019. Help put some color and history on the wall with a giant paint-by-numbers mural representing the trains and history of the Switchyard in Bloomington. You will get paint on you - so come ready with shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty.
Mother Hubbard's Cupboard
GARDEN & PANTRY WORKDAY
Join Mother Hubbard's Cupboard to work towards increasing access to healthy food in our community! Participants will help with mulching and weeding in the garden, spreading gravel in the parking lot, and deep cleaning the food pantry. Volunteers should come ready to work in clothes they don't mind getting dirty. Partaking in this GYSD project helps the Hub more effectively serve approximately 3,800 people a week through our food pantry, nutrition education and garden education programs.
Boys and Girls Club Camp Rock
CAMP ROCK CLEAN UP
Help the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington prepare for a fantastic summer out at Camp Rock! Located on the shore of Lake Lemon, BGC Bloomington’s Camp Rock property needs help in preparing our grounds for the summer! Projects include: trail work, trimming back foliage, power washing, cleaning, & spreading gravel and mulch, and raking (along with anything else we can think of). Enjoy your service day overlooking the beautiful Lake Lemon, all while helping us better serve the youth of Bloomington. Please dress ready for thorns, getting dirty, and maybe even a little wet!
Bloomington Parks at Lake Griffy
PROJECT FULL - A DAY AT LAKE GRIFFY
Garlic Mustard and Bush Honeysuckle and Multiflora Rose, oh my—these invaders don’t belong in the forests! This team is partnering with the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation department to head out to the Lake Griffy Nature Preserve to work on trails, invasive plant management, and planting. We need all hands on deck to help protect our local ecosystem from invasive plants and to help install native plants along the Griffy Lake shoreline. Sturdy shoes, teamwork, and a passion for nature are needed to get this project done. We’ll work rain or shine!
